The Record of Decision (ROD) for the EHW-2 was signed on May 4, 2012 and published in the Federal Register on May 18, 2012. Click the links below to view the ROD and the Notice of Availability (NOA) published in the Federal Register.

The Navy completed the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Second Explosives Handling Wharf (EHW-2) at Naval Base Kitsap at Bangor. Potential environmental effects of constructing and operating the proposed EHW-2 at Naval Base Kitsap at Bangor are evaluated in the EHW-2 EIS. The Final EIS addresses changes in the proposed action since publication of the Draft EIS and the Supplement to the Draft EIS. The document also incorporates additional environmental analysis in response to issues raised by the public, agencies, and tribes during the public review periods for the Draft EIS (March 18 through May 17, 2011) and the Supplement to the Draft EIS (October 7 through November 21, 2011)

The ROD was signed by the Principal Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Energy, Installations and Environment) following the 30-day wait period after publication of the Notice of Availability (NOA) for the Final EIS in the Federal Register on March 30, 2012. The ROD identifies the alternative the Navy will implement, provides the rationale for the Navy's decision, and responds to substantive comments not addressed in the Final EIS.

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) does not require Federal agencies to establish a Web site. This Web site has been developed to provide the public with information about the project.
